NeoDyne have developed capability in plant Medium Voltage Electrical Engineering, specifically including Industrial Plant Medium Voltage substations and distribution networks. Capability in this area includes design, project management, construction supervision and commissioning supervision. One of NeoDyne’s key capabilities is the upgrade of Medium Voltage systems while maintaining plant electrical supply. Recent project have included replacement of the main 10kV substation for a gmp manufacturing facility with 5MW electrical load and no outages permitted. Other projects have included integration of CHP or standby generation systems into existing plants. For existing plants risk assessments are carried out to comprehensively reduce risk of spurious operation of switchgear during upgrade projects. Risks with construction work damaging or interfering with existing main power systems are identified including excavations affecting buried cables, machinery colliding with buildings or equipment and vibration affecting the trip mechanism of circuit breakers. Existing electrical control circuits are analysed in detail until clearly understood to determine potential causes of un-intended breaker tripping. MV Switchgear technologies used include Withdrawable Air Insulated, Withdrawable SF6, Fixed Resin Insulated. Design capabilities include protection co-ordination, short circuit calculation, ARC–flash studies.
